The Summit Music Hall

This one was different for me...

First off, I wanna give a huge shout out to Brian Godeaux, aka Hypnautic of Top Flite Empire. He's been doing music full time for the last nine years now and is pretty much living his dream, pursuing his passion. These past few months, he's been such a huge help for me in building my brand, and transitioning from the car business into pursuing my dreams!

I've been dying to jump onto one of their shows since I got back into music 8 months ago... and ever since being back in the scene, I've been dying to perform on The Summit Music Hall big stage. Hyp put it together and helped me kill two birds with one stone!

However, this was NOT what I expected. The crowd was way younger than I thought it would be... and I was truly nervous to see how my message was going to translate. Before my set, I kept thinking I should change it on the fly... this isn't going to work... but instead, I held strong. And wow, the response from the crowd was unforgettable! I guess more and more people are truly looking for some way to change their lives for the better... for them and everyone around them!

Shout out to Freely Loved Hemp for sponsoring me in this event! Make sure to check them out on Facebook, Instagram, and on their website. www.FreelyLovedHemp.com

HALF TIME SHOW at The Pepsi Center! What?!?!!?

Now I'm a BIG DREAMER with super lofty goals, yes... but if you would've asked me a year ago, whether or not I thought I would've went from performing at smaller local venues to doing a half time show at the Pepsi Center in less than a year, I would've thought YOU were crazy! But here we are, 8 months after finally taking the huge leap and leaving a very successful eleven years in the car business, and I've partnered up with an amazing MMA / BOXING Promotion company that takes it to the next level in everything they do! Shout outs to Proximity and the Universal Language Entertainment family who introduced me to Richie "Small Hands" Wallace, who connected me with Jesse Rarick of Sparta Media Group who then introduced me to SCL CEO Jeff Cisneros and the amazing team at Sparta Combat League. It's even crazier once I tell you the intricate details of how all of this actually ended up happening. Sign on to the mailing list to catch the video documentary, coming soon!

I'll be performing "Gladiator," produced by akaDenver, mixed and mastered by MC Uriah Halbeisen, and a remake of "Casualties of War," from my Clock Strikes Thirteen Album for the Halftime Show, and will come back on to perform "WARRIOR" produced by GeoMtrk, to introduce the King of Sparta fight!

Buddhakai meets Anime in "Macrus"

It's about time I did a little anime / Buddhakai mix! And what a perfect track to do it for!
This week's Throw Back Thursday brings us to Macrus from 2004

With only three weeks of video production under my belt, don't expect it to be perfect just yet! I just wanted to add some awesome anime to me rapping and see how it comes out. I definitely didn't map any characters to a story line. I simply attempted to match what my words were saying to kick-ass scenes that gave it a little added impact! Difficult to follow if you're looking for a story line... but if you're just in it for some dope, hard hitting lyrics with awesome graphics to match, check it out!

You can also listen to the FULL SONG that features Angel Faced Assassin from Trinity FOR FREE on SPOTIFY, GOOGLE PLAY, Pandora, or download the song for $0.99 cents off of iTunes!!!!

Back with another one! "Identity" from 1999

Definitively one of the FAN-FAVORITES when we first started doing the rap thing!!!
WARNING: Explicit Lyrics!!!!

Get the full song off of iTunes here!
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/original-identity

Honestly, I didn't expect to get a video done by THURSDAY this week, let alone, Tuesday night. This will be the second time I've used any video editing software. However, I'm so excited about this one that instead of doing another TBT Throw Back Thursday two days from now, I'm going to act a little impatiently and do my own thing... WBW or Waaaay Back Wednesday... and we're going to set it off with one of my favorite songs ever. "Identity" was produced by Mizeree, who would come into the studio and bless me with the sickest guitar loops. The original song features Angel Faced Assassin and Prince of Darkness. Originally recorded for Trinity, "tha Second Coming" album, I released it on the 48 track compilation called "From the Beginning," 1996-2002

Check out the FULL SONG or the compilation album on iTunes, Apple Music, or Spotify. If anything, add Buddhakai to your listening playlists!

Huge shout out to Phil Sisneros for coming through and helping me film this thing!!!

Title: "Identity"
Produced by: Mizeree, Edubb, and Buddhakai
FULL SONG featuring: Angel Faced Assassin and Prince of Darkness

Buddhakai Verse:
Yo don't be acting like you know me coz you've heard of my name...
Buddhakai, you only know me by the words that I'm saying
You copped my bootleg, constantly rocking it in your stereo
You probably think I'm nuts but that's just me painting scenarios
"Buddhakai's a genius, heard his latest instrumental beat?"
Please, I put that fucking beat together accidentally
I've got a message for groupies, yo back up off of me
I dropped my first album locally, now I've got crazy niggaz stalking me
And people staring at me awkwardly
Since "Kollossal Kombo," bitches are scared to talk to me
I know the second album's really gonna get em twisted
I've spent so many hours writing it, my finger's blistered
Yeah, I know I spit some crazy shit, but son, you missed it
they're just lyrics, see I ain't trying to get arrested
Ya'll dumb as fuck and ya'll need to learn the difference,
I'm not a thug, I'm a mutha fucking lyricist
Oh, so now you're thinking I don't keep it real,
just because I don't have a glock to your grill
Or a house on the hill, or made my money stack to a mil...
You probably think I'm too scared to kill, THINK AGAIN!
I'm not the type to go and look for a fight,
But I would fight you, regardless of your weight or your height
I've seen the quiet get loud, and start a riot
But it's them loud niggaz you watch, when we get quiet.

Bringing back the old Buddhakai on Throw Back Thursdays

New video every other week, picked from over 250 songs, written over 13 years ago...

I've written so many songs that have pretty much outlined my life growing up. From all of the good times, to all of the very bad, depressing times, suffering from tons of insecurities and addiction to meth, I wrote about all of it! The best part about it is, it gives me an opportunity to look back at life and see how beautiful all of it really is. From all the ups and downs, God really pulled me out of the mess... and the outcome is breath taking.

This week's Throw Back Thursday takes me back to a song called "Hideaway" feat. BeBe Victoria that I wrote and recorded in 2004, and the reasons behind why I defended my meth addiction and those around me who suffered from it.

Title: “Hideaway”
Produced by Punch Boi Boogie
Written by Buddhakai featuring: Bebe Victoria

Hide and run away when there’s no room for me to breathe

I hide and runaway coz it’s the only way that I escape, where other people relate

We hide and run away when there’s no room for me to breathe

I hide and runaway coz it’s the only way that I escape -

It’s the only way that I - could really be free.

Verse1

We’re all a victim to the same plague, classified as the “lower crowd”

Better to keep away and if you must, try to go around

That’s what they say, most the people who don’t know about

the life we may or may not save from going out

Most of us are sailors or fishermen with a boat that’s drowned

We used to sail the seven seas till the ocean drought

But they don’t see the glory underneath our broken hearts

Trying our best but in our breath, even hope was sharp

HOW DARE YOU JUDGE US like you’re a level above us –

The highest number of judges were liars who said they loved us

Our parents, family members who can’t even remember

The better efforts we made coz’ they paint negative pictures of doubt,

Worries and gossip, statistics of things before

That I’m punished forever more for a single time in the wrong

Yet you wonder why we stuck up for the “other” guy

Only coz’ we feel the same way when you’re coming by…

Hide and run away when there’s no room for me to breathe

I hide and runaway coz it’s the only way that I escape, where other people relate

We hide and run away when there’s no room for me to breathe

I hide and runaway coz it’s the only way that I escape -

It’s the only way that I - could really be free.

Verse2

In every you would say, we “just sleep and play,”

“Spend every day splurging hits” that we bleed to pay

For living life full of crime, “Mine’s the easy way!”

Right! Till we stumble in the sights of the D.E.A.

Dozens of S-W-A-T’s in a raid

Tempted to rat them out, FREEDOM seems like an even trade

Or your advantage when slapped with a hundred-g for bail

Some trade their honor for offers to walk from being jailed

The final ocean we drown in going beneath the waves,

Sometimes we feel WE AIN’T PART OF THE PEOPLE JESUS SAVES!

Losing our faith until we fall to our knees and pray!

But prayers turn into wishing I REST IN PEACE – TODAY!

Who of you wanna trade places with me

Since you claim you could simply walk away from addiction

Like I make this decision in the way of me picking…

“Better life” or the second, “fuck it up,” gimme this one!

Yeah okay, our intelligence could be used for improvements

If none of it’s implemented to conquer or help your ingnorance!

No wonder why we band together standing side to side

To build a fence that would protect me, whenever I…

Hide and run away when there’s no room for me to breathe

I hide and runaway coz it’s the only way that I escape, where other people relate

We hide and run away when there’s no room for me to breathe

I hide and runaway coz it’s the only way that I escape -

It’s the only way that I - could really be free.

Verse3

Now so many of my friends and associates,

Close-to, acquaintances are hopeless and desperate

Broke down or penniless, now the stakes be

double the amount of quadrupally up in J.C. (Jersey City)

How many of us ain’t around plus ain’t free

Dropped in a heavy guarded box just ten feet long

We’re down to just a few of us left,

Holding an ounce, small amounts only, due to the risk

Known all around, got it now, God, and you could be next

Smaller crowds, not a sound, kinda knew you a snitch!

Different clown, turn around, IT’S THE ONE YOU WERE WITH!

Not the one you disrespected, man, you used to be friends

It’s so sad. Just think and go back to when shit was so great

With (aluminum foil) trays that overflowed

Where you’d sit and hold back, couldn’t (take a) hit, you were smashed

All your friends, we all had (our own stash) leftovers would go trashed!

Now we’re scrimping a small bag, a few of us getting smoke

While the rest of us are getting rest, arrested or so broke!

Fucking left us with no hope we quote, the question why…

Yet the answers never come, run away and I hide...

Denver reps heavy for Grind Mode in Vol. 1...

Rozin Barz comes through with the HEAVY HITTING closer for this one!

get this song on iTunes now http://msclvr.co/GMCDenver1

So much going on anticipating the cypher / show opener for Masta Ace... from finally having the courage to leave a very successful eleven years in the car business to pursue music, to having my very first baby on the way... No lie, I was having the hardest time writing this verse! How in the world am I going to rep hard enough to tangle with half of these hard hitting emcees, while maintaining the positive messages and life changes I'm going through now... damn. This was going to be a tough one. I still remember Nicholas Rosen putting everything aside to focus on this verse, and dang, it definitely shows that he put in his time! Shout out to #Barz and all of the other emcees who did their thing on this one!

The first time I saw GRIND MODE, my boy Patrick "Patches" Greco showed me the one with Ren Thomas straight KILLING IT!!! Since then, I was like, "yo! I need to get on that!" a few months later, I link up with the amazing, Colorado-based Record Label, Universal Language Entertainment, and find out they rock heavy with Lingo and the Grind Mode Affiliates, so as soon as I found out they were coming to Denver, you know I had to jump on it! Shout out to Eli Cordova, aka Provoke of Proximity, Windchill, the whole ULFAM and Lingo of Grind Mode for giving me the opportunity to rock out with a bunch of amazing, talented emcees... especially the LEGEND himself, Masta Ace! This is definitely one for the books!

Lyrics: 02:31
So what cha thinking when you listening to Grind mode?
A group of diamond cutters amidst the rhinestones
A Mr. Maniac, A-Merican psycho
And I'm a thunderstorm followed by these cyclones
Wind, chill... the second wind will leave your mind blown
with half the population listening trying to find home
See, growing Up the most innovative rapper that ever
got on the mic I've inspired over a dozen killers
Spittin' gorillas from lizards to Godzillas
from having the wackest lyrics to rappin like Lauryn Hill does
I inspire the been tired to get wired
Entirely to my empire to spit fire
The sick writer, the venomous flowing pit viper
Enemies show and they let me go like a jet fighter!
But now there ain't no one around me that I need to hurt!
I've got people that really love me that'll kill you first

Title: Stop Drinking
Produced by: Raushan Simmons, Lamont Powell, and Anthony Suzara
Written by Buddhakai and featuring Denell
Music Video filmed and directed by: Leland Schmidt

Intro:
Oh my baby, you gotta stop, you gotta stop.
Oh it’s hurting to see you this way. Please stop
My baby, I love… I love… you

Verse1:
Know that I can’t live without her cause I live for my girl.
If I could I would definitely give her my world.
When my rainbows were missing and my vision was blurred,
she would bring back the colors and the prism was her.
So for the past three years it’s been nothing but clear,
sunny skies, dry her eyes when they flooded with tears.
I was the king of her castle and she was my team,
my little princess, hoping I could make her my queen.
But there was one thing she hated about me, picture a rock sinking…
drowning in the liquor she’s been telling me to, “Stop Drinking.”
There was a night where she was carrying a glass of booze…
me or the liquor was something a n*gga had to choose!
I chose her, so I had to quit, “that’s the rules!”
Liquor wasn’t nothing compared to what I had to lose.
She was everything I wanted in life, so I was thinking,
STOP DRINKING, and I’ll make her my wife, c’mon!

Hook:
We’ve been through too much, boy you’re killing me inside!
Why would you choose the Alize I want to be your wife.
There’s only room for two, you’ve got to decide!
Who’s the real love of your life? My baby, please...

Verse2:
She was an angel from the heavens and sent
to take away my every day, sipping on the Alize getting bent.
So today was a special event, I’m gonna marry her,
knowing that I loved her since the day that we met.
Called her up all anxious and eager, told her I loved her missed her
and that I need her like followers want a leader now…
wear the dress that I bought you, you’ve got a date.
Meet me at the first place that we met, quarter to eight.
And she kept reiterating for me not to be late,
gave her my word, today everything was gonna be great!
I’ll see you later, now I’m nervous, I can’t believe it’s happening…
diamonds over platinum from the checks that I was cashing in.
Got four hours to go, I’ve gotta have a drink.
Last of the tall glass I’m never gonna have again.
A couple more before I’m through then I’m fit to go,
stumbled out the bar, got in my car, then I hit the road.
Weaving through traffic like fake hair, I couldn’t be late,
cause I would hate it if I had to make her wait there.
Ducking and swerving and switching across lanes,
“get the hell off of the road, you’re going the wrong way!”
Then my life flashed before me and the flash was fast,
my car crashed I was unconscious covered in glass!
And the last thing I remembered was the airbag blast out…
seconds right before I closed my eyes and passed out!

Hook:
We’ve been through too much, boy you’re killing me inside!
Why would you choose the Alize I want to be your wife.
There’s only room for two, you’ve got to decide!
Who’s the real love of your life?

Verse3:
I came to, couldn’t see, there was a bunch of commotion
I got a paramedic telling me to “keep my eyes open”
“Stay breathing,” heart heavily beating my body weakened
And I tried to move my feet when I noticed I couldn’t feel em,
I looked around there were a hundred ambulances
And cops trying to barricade the others that were glancing
I started to cry knowing that my chances were slim
They’re flashing lights in my eyes, but the flashes were dim!
I kept passing out, memories were lost in my head
Until I finally woke up in the hospital bed.
Looked up at the clock it’s a quarter to three
Damn! Seven hours after we were to meet???
She’s gonna hate me, I lied to her. This couldn’t be
Now I had to find the reasons to tell her she shouldn’t leave
Called her up at her apartment and her cellular phone
It’s gonna break her f*ckin heart when I tell her what’s wrong
I probably won’t survive I could feel it inside
But the last thing I want is to see her before I die
So I called up her mother to ask her to help me find her
She said, “my little baby was killed by a drunk driver!”

Special thank you goes out to the Boulder Rescue Squad and Miner's Tavern
