New video every other week, picked from over 250 songs, written over 13 years ago...

I've written so many songs that have pretty much outlined my life growing up. From all of the good times, to all of the very bad, depressing times, suffering from tons of insecurities and addiction to meth, I wrote about all of it! The best part about it is, it gives me an opportunity to look back at life and see how beautiful all of it really is. From all the ups and downs, God really pulled me out of the mess... and the outcome is breath taking.

This week's Throw Back Thursday takes me back to a song called "Hideaway" feat. BeBe Victoria that I wrote and recorded in 2004, and the reasons behind why I defended my meth addiction and those around me who suffered from it.

Title: “Hideaway”
Produced by Punch Boi Boogie
Written by Buddhakai featuring: Bebe Victoria

Hide and run away when there’s no room for me to breathe

I hide and runaway coz it’s the only way that I escape, where other people relate

We hide and run away when there’s no room for me to breathe

I hide and runaway coz it’s the only way that I escape -

It’s the only way that I - could really be free.

Verse1

We’re all a victim to the same plague, classified as the “lower crowd”

Better to keep away and if you must, try to go around

That’s what they say, most the people who don’t know about

the life we may or may not save from going out

Most of us are sailors or fishermen with a boat that’s drowned

We used to sail the seven seas till the ocean drought

But they don’t see the glory underneath our broken hearts

Trying our best but in our breath, even hope was sharp

HOW DARE YOU JUDGE US like you’re a level above us –

The highest number of judges were liars who said they loved us

Our parents, family members who can’t even remember

The better efforts we made coz’ they paint negative pictures of doubt,

Worries and gossip, statistics of things before

That I’m punished forever more for a single time in the wrong

Yet you wonder why we stuck up for the “other” guy

Only coz’ we feel the same way when you’re coming by…

Hide and run away when there’s no room for me to breathe

I hide and runaway coz it’s the only way that I escape, where other people relate

We hide and run away when there’s no room for me to breathe

I hide and runaway coz it’s the only way that I escape -

It’s the only way that I - could really be free.

Verse2

In every you would say, we “just sleep and play,”

“Spend every day splurging hits” that we bleed to pay

For living life full of crime, “Mine’s the easy way!”

Right! Till we stumble in the sights of the D.E.A.

Dozens of S-W-A-T’s in a raid

Tempted to rat them out, FREEDOM seems like an even trade

Or your advantage when slapped with a hundred-g for bail

Some trade their honor for offers to walk from being jailed

The final ocean we drown in going beneath the waves,

Sometimes we feel WE AIN’T PART OF THE PEOPLE JESUS SAVES!

Losing our faith until we fall to our knees and pray!

But prayers turn into wishing I REST IN PEACE – TODAY!

Who of you wanna trade places with me

Since you claim you could simply walk away from addiction

Like I make this decision in the way of me picking…

“Better life” or the second, “fuck it up,” gimme this one!

Yeah okay, our intelligence could be used for improvements

If none of it’s implemented to conquer or help your ingnorance!

No wonder why we band together standing side to side

To build a fence that would protect me, whenever I…

Hide and run away when there’s no room for me to breathe

I hide and runaway coz it’s the only way that I escape, where other people relate

We hide and run away when there’s no room for me to breathe

I hide and runaway coz it’s the only way that I escape -

It’s the only way that I - could really be free.

Verse3

Now so many of my friends and associates,

Close-to, acquaintances are hopeless and desperate

Broke down or penniless, now the stakes be

double the amount of quadrupally up in J.C. (Jersey City)

How many of us ain’t around plus ain’t free

Dropped in a heavy guarded box just ten feet long

We’re down to just a few of us left,

Holding an ounce, small amounts only, due to the risk

Known all around, got it now, God, and you could be next

Smaller crowds, not a sound, kinda knew you a snitch!

Different clown, turn around, IT’S THE ONE YOU WERE WITH!

Not the one you disrespected, man, you used to be friends

It’s so sad. Just think and go back to when shit was so great

With (aluminum foil) trays that overflowed

Where you’d sit and hold back, couldn’t (take a) hit, you were smashed

All your friends, we all had (our own stash) leftovers would go trashed!

Now we’re scrimping a small bag, a few of us getting smoke

While the rest of us are getting rest, arrested or so broke!

Fucking left us with no hope we quote, the question why…

Yet the answers never come, run away and I hide...
